Job Summary:
The Medical Records Manager provides leadership and support to the medical records department, practice providers and clinical staff in order to create a cohesive culture and environment that fosters growth and innovations across the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities Include:
- Manages daily medical records operations to ensure efficiency and patient satisfaction
- Assists in planning the delivery of services such as transcription, record retrieval, record maintenance, data management, medical record completion, or release of information
- Maintains medical records department rules and regulations and HIPPA compliance
- Responsible for personnel hiring, discipline, coaching sessions and personnel annual performance evaluations
- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information
- Scans medical records into the patient charts
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments
- Establishes and implements medical record policies and procedures necessary for effective and efficient processes
- Provide excellent customer service
- Replies to EMR/ PHI messages in timely manner
- Serves as a liaison between practice and health providers
- All other duties as assigned by Director of Health Information Management
- Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve, manage projects, and prioritize workload with minimum supervision
- Strong organizational and interpretation skills
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities to prioritize scheduling of work
- Ability to maintain HIPPA confidentiality
- Ability to complete work assignments in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in professional manner.
- Minimum of three years of medical records experience (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Pushing, pulling or lifting. Walking climbing stairs required.
- Able to talk/hear communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.
