We are seeking a full time Prior Authorization Coordinator. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of medical office experience and be energetic, compassionate and extremely detail oriented. This position functions as an integral member of the DMC team. Medical Assistants are encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties:
- Request and provide medical information to and from patient care providers in strict accordance with HIPAA and all policies and procedures.
- Complete accurate prior authorization requests for medications, sleep studies, imaging, and additional testing and procedures.
- Answer calls from our patient service center, pharmacies, Derry Imaging Center and clinical staff regarding medication or testing precertification requirements.
- Accurately communicate and document prior authorization information into the EMR.
- Work with patients’ insurance companies to begin and complete prior authorizations on their behalf.
Necessary Skills:
- Experience with prior authorizations for therapeutic pain injections, such as Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI’s), Facet Steroid Injections and Sacroiliac Joint Steroid Injections.
- Experience with prior authorizations for infusions, such as Fereheme, Prolia, Euflexxa, Reclast.
- Experience with prior authorizations for contraceptives, such as Nexplanon and other IUDs.
- Ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Above-average patience, empathy and compassion when working with patients.
- Demonstration of exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct, including the ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Strong computer skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years medical office experience required.
- Minimum of two years EMR experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of medications and imaging/radiology strongly preferred.
- Experience in insurance portals and authorizations preferred.
This full-time, 40 hour per week position in Derry offers:
- Regular hours Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
