DMC Primary Care is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to own and optimize our healthcare IT infrastructure—primarily servers, virtualization, and data center operations. The ideal candidate will be the senior technical expert and final escalation point, responsible for following best practices in system and data security. You’ll collaborate with the Applications & EHR team on interfaces and data transport (e.g., HL7, SFTP), share a coverage rotation with the Systems Admin, and schedule maintenance during off-hours to minimize disruptions. This is a full-time position located in Derry, NH. Please note that this is NOT a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Server & Virtualization – Manage Windows, Linux, and vSphere/ESXi platforms, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Data Center Oversight – Monitor power, cooling, hardware deployments, and ensure robust disaster recovery plans.
- Lifecycle Management – Perform patching, upgrades, and decommissioning while planning for scalability in healthcare environments.
- System Integrations – Partner with the EHR team to support HL7, SFTP, and other interfaces; assist with Microsoft SQL Server tasks.
- Cloud Services – Administer and optimize hybrid setups (Microsoft 365/Azure) to balance performance, security, and cost.
- Security Best Practices – Implement secure configurations and follow HIPAA/NIST guidelines for system and data protection.
- Infrastructure – demonstrated practical expertise in network, storage, and power systems to maintain operational functionality
- Database familiarity – oversee database tasks related to backups, interfaces, and system integration to ensure reliability and data integrity
- Data reliability / disaster recovery – ensure that critical backups are performed routinely and effectively
- Incident response / disaster recovery – actively troubleshoot and resolve system incidents, coordinate cross-functional response efforts, and ensure comprehensive disaster recovery plans are regularly reviewed, updated, and tested.
- Leadership & Collaboration – Mentor junior staff, act as the go-to escalation resource, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Maintenance & Coverage – Conduct after-hours and weekend updates; share on-call responsibilities with the Systems Admin.
- Customer service – although not a front-line position, your customers will include Derry Medical Center and Derry Imaging management, providers, clinical & administrative staff, and third-party partners and hosted services clients.
- Communication & collaboration – it is critical to communicate professionally and work well with colleagues, customers, and our vendors.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- BS in Computer Sciences or comparable degree (Preferred)
- 10 years in systems engineering role focused on servers (or 5-7 years specializing in healthcare IT systems may be sufficient)
- Expert-level Windows Server administration (AD, Group Policy)
- Superior technical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on vSphere / ESXi management
- Basic networking skills (TCP/IP, VLANs)
- Proven data center experience (rack management, power & cooling)
- Familiarity with system security standards (NIST, CIS)
- 15 years’ experience in a Systems Engineering or IT Architect role
- Knowledge of HL7, DICOM, SFTP, APIs or other healthcare data exchange protocols
- Experience with Microsoft 365 / Azure cloud services
- Strongly prefer at least 5 years in a healthcare setting
- Understanding of HIPAA/HITRUST regulations, imaging systems (e.g. PACS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), storage requirements, and clinical application demands
- Exposure to Veradigm (Allscripts) EHR and/or Practice Management (PM) applications

- BeyondTrust remote access and remote support tools
- Jira Service Management for IT service desk ticketing
- Slack, Confluence, and other collaboration tools for IT
